Former President Trump dismissed concerns in an interview Monday that he would prioritize revenge against political opponents over passing meaningful policy changes if he wins a second term in the White House.
In an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” President Trump was asked to respond to comments made by Home Depot CEO and Republican megadonor Ken Langone, who said in an earlier interview, Ta. Be evenly matched. That’s scary because there are serious issues at hand to deal with. ”
When asked to respond to Langone and the concerns, President Trump said, “Well, I’ve never been a fan of Ken, but I’m still angry and frustrated about certain issues.”
President Trump then addressed the concerns more directly, saying the only revenge is to make the policy successful.
“Frankly, in some ways, he’s right,” Trump said of Langone. “People think there will be revenge. And I say, no, revenge will be successful. A revenge attitude will not be revenge. It will really be successful. We will protect this country. We’re going to turn it around. We’re going to bring reason and common sense.”
He characterized the conservative policy positions he supports as “common sense” policies.
“You know, people say, ‘You’re a conservative,'” Trump continued. “I’m not a conservative. You know who I am? I’m a common sense person, and a lot of conservative policies are common sense.”
President Trump has repeatedly promised to investigate President Biden and his family, as he has become the subject of multiple investigations. Trump has been indicted on four criminal charges, two federal and two state, totaling 91 felonies.
Mr. Trump has frequently promised retaliation in remarks to his supporters, including at last year’s Conservative Political Action Conference. “I am your warrior, I am your justice. I am your justice. And I am the vengeance for those who have been wronged and betrayed.”
