The Trump administration is sending Border Patrol Agent Tom Homan to Minnesota to oversee the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations and assist in addressing “widespread fraud.”
Amid ongoing unrest in Minnesota, President Trump urged local leaders to take action. He mentioned receiving a call from Governor Tim Walz, a Democrat, discussing the need for cooperation in the state. Trump remarked that it was a “good decision.”
“I told Governor Walz that I was going to have Tom Homan call me, and we were looking for all sorts of criminals they had on their hands. The governor respectfully understood that. I’m going to talk to him soon. He was happy that Tom Homan was going to Minnesota, and so am I!”
In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump urged Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to turn over all criminal illegal aliens to federal authorities.
“Governor Walz and Mayor Frey should hand over to federal authorities for immediate deportation all illegal alien criminals currently incarcerated in state prisons and jails, and all illegal criminals with active warrants or known criminal records,” Trump stated.
He emphasized that Democratic politicians need to collaborate with the federal government for the safety of Americans. Trump noted that some states and Democrats in Washington, D.C., are already cooperating, leading to improvements in public safety.
“Democratic politicians must protect the American people by working with the federal government to expeditiously remove all criminal illegal aliens from our country. Some Democrats have done this in places like Memphis, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C., resulting in safer streets for everyone,” he added.
Furthermore, he called on Congress to pass legislation to eliminate sanctuary policies.
“I hereby call on the United States Congress to immediately pass legislation to abolish sanctuary cities, which are the root cause of all of these problems. America’s cities should be safe sanctuaries only for law-abiding American citizens, not criminal illegal aliens who have broken our laws.”
