Former President Donald Trump beats President Joe Biden in a head-to-head matchup, according to a new Emerson College poll.
Trump wins one point in direct confrontation advantage He led Biden by 46 points to Biden’s 45 points.
The addition of third-party candidates (independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., independent candidate Cornel West, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein) increases Mr. Trump’s lead by two points. Trump has an approval rating of 41%, followed by Biden with 39% and Kennedy with 5%. Mr. West and Mr. Stein each received 1% support.
The poll also looked at the Republican primary race between Trump and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and found Trump with a 54-point lead. Trump has 73% support among Republican voters, while Haley has 19% support.
As Emerson noted, “Since last month’s survey, which added four Republican candidates who have suspended their campaigns, Trump’s approval rating has increased by 13 points, from 64% to 77%, and Haley’s approval rating has increased from 14% to 77%.” 24%, an increase of 10 points.

The poll was conducted from January 26-29, 2024 among 1,260 registered voters. The error is ± 2.7%.
The poll is consistent with several other polls that show Trump leading Biden both nationally and in key battleground states, and also among key demographics, including independents. It shows that he has a lead over Biden. According to a recent survey, economistFor example, YouGov showed Mr. Trump leading Mr. Biden (81) by 4 points among independent voters, 38% to 34%.
