President Trump commemorated Prayer National Day on Thursday by establishing a new committee to protect religious freedom and by telling Rose Garden audiences that religion is essential to a thriving country. Surrounded by religious and political leaders, Trump has signed an executive order to establish a Religious Freedom Committee, which the White House states that it “protects and promotes the fundamental principles of religious freedom in America.”
“We are regaining religion in our country, and we are bringing it back quickly and strongly.“ Trump said at the ceremony. “Because of In order for America to become a great nation, we must always be one nation under God. ”
The committee, according to the White House, will produce a comprehensive report on 1) the foundations of religious freedom in America;“ 3) “Current threats to religious freedom and strategies to maintain and strengthen protections for future generations.“
“The main areas of focus include religious education, school choice, protection of conscience, attacks on places of worship, freedom of speech for religious organizations, and institutional autonomy;“ The White House said in a Factsheet.
The committee advises the White House Faith Office and the National Policy Council Problem We recommend religious freedom and administrative or legislative measures to protect it.
“We want to defend and represent all faiths and their religious freedom people both at home and abroad.“ Trump said. “…When we defend religious freedom in America, we also stand up to religious persecution. all over the world. ”
Committee members come from “diverse.”“ Religious and professional backgrounds including clergy, academics, legal experts, public advocates and former government officials.the summary said.
The White House said the committee is needed because of recent federal and state policies that have undermined religious freedom by targeting the protection of conscience.“ Such policies limit the ability of parents to send children to religious schools, banning at-risk funding and nonprofit status for faith-based organizations, and religious organizations from participating in government programs.
The Biden administration's Justice Department said it targeted peaceful Christians while ignoring violent and anti-Christian crimes.
