President Trump is expected to appoint new FBI director Kash Patel as representing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Despite the controversy over qualifications, the Senate recently confirmed that Patel will serve as head of the FBI with a 51-49 vote.
The New York native has a history of employment with the Department of Justice, and after three years as a trial lawyer, he moved to the National Security Council position as Director of the National Intelligence Bureau.
In many of these roles, he worked with President Trump's closest allies. Rick Grennell is currently the special presidential envoy for the special mission. .
Former ATF Director Steve Detelbach resigned from the post in January, and was the first permanent agent manager since 2015.
ATFs work to divert illegal human trafficking of weapons and materials.
The Trump administration is prioritizing securing US entry points while throttling the flow of drugs and guns often transported by cartels that were declared the world's terrorist group on Wednesday.
