Trump expected to reveal that DC will be the site of the NFL Draft.

Reports indicate that the Washington Commanders are set to host the 2027 NFL Draft in Washington, D.C., as the team moves forward with plans for a new stadium in the capital. President Donald Trump is expected to make an announcement about this on Monday, according to various sources.

Josh Harris, the owner of the Commanders, has mentioned aspirations to bring the draft to the National Mall at least once within the next few years. Back in August, while working to secure the site of the old RFK Stadium for the team’s new home, he shared his vision of a draft event at the mall. “Just imagine, drafting at the mall. It’s exciting for Washington,” he said, acknowledging the complexities involved but expressing optimism about it happening eventually.

The recent draft took place in Green Bay, which typically is the NFL’s smallest market but saw over 600,000 fans attending over three days. Once a staple at Radio City Music Hall in New York, the draft has evolved; what used to be a one-day event has transformed into a multi-day spectacle. Cities like Cleveland, Las Vegas, and Kansas City have also hosted it in recent years, especially as the NFL explored new venues.

Looking ahead, Pittsburgh is slated to host the draft in 2026. It’s a busy time for the Commanders, with the excitement of a new stadium and the possibility of the draft bringing a renewed energy to the Washington area.
