Insights from Trump’s Encounter with Queen Elizabeth II

A sneak peek into the book, *Queens and Presidents: The Hidden Hands That Shaped History*, sheds light on what President Donald Trump admired about the late Queen Elizabeth II. The United States, born from a revolt against the British monarchy in the 18th century, maintains a long-standing connection with Great Britain. During her remarkable 70-year reign, the Queen met 14 U.S. presidents, including Trump, who made state visits to meet her.

Trump and author Susan Page will discuss their experiences in a book set to be released on April 14. In it, Trump reflects on a memorable conversation with the Queen, recalling, “I asked her, ‘So, can I inquire who your favorite president was?’”

The Queen reportedly answered, “Why? Everyone was so nice.” When Trump pressed her about Ronald Reagan, she responded, “Oh, yeah, I really liked him, but they were all good.” After inquiring about Richard Nixon, she continued, “I loved them all. I can’t say anything bad about them. They were wonderful.”

In another part of their chat, Trump asked if Winston Churchill was her favorite prime minister. The Queen replied, “No, no, no, he was great. But they all worked hard. They were very different, but they all did their jobs well.”

Trump reportedly admired her graceful way of interacting with others, saying, “I thought, ‘What genius was this?’ I couldn’t get her to speak ill of anyone. It seemed she avoided controversy, which was clever.” According to Page, this interaction prompted Trump to reflect inwardly.

“I don’t mean to sound self-deprecating, but she was quite different from me. She didn’t stir things up,” he shared. “She was there for decades and, honestly, never seemed to make a mistake. Everyone else had their slip-ups, but she was impeccable.”
