Recently, former President Donald Trump commented on Elon Musk’s ambitions, suggesting he hopes Musk will “prosper.” This follows discussions about a potential government investigation into Musk’s activities. In a post on True Social, Trump mentioned that some people believe he might harm Musk’s company by revoking federal grants, but he quickly dismissed that notion.
He stated, “I hope Elon and all businesses in this country will thrive more than ever. The more success they have, the better it is for America.” It’s interesting how, just a few weeks ago, Trump was at odds with Musk over SpaceX, and he hinted that investigations might be on the table regarding Musk’s dealings.
In a somewhat colorful remark, Trump labeled regulatory pressures on Musk as “monsters” that might need to confront him. He expressed concern over the electric vehicle mandates that seemed to upset Musk, who, let’s face it, is deeply tied to the EV market through Tesla.
The relationship between Trump and Musk has reportedly shifted, especially after Trump’s remarks about plans to roll back electric vehicle mandates affecting Tesla’s business. Not so long ago, Trump was quoted calling Musk a “great man,” despite recent critiques of government spending linked to Musk’s interests.
In June, Trump signed resolutions aiming to dismantle strict regulations in California concerning diesel engines and electric vehicle sales, celebrating these moves as a victory for freeing up industry rules. Meanwhile, Musk has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the administration’s spending initiatives, labeling them as excessive and filled with unnecessary expenditures.
This back-and-forth illustrates not just the complex nature of political and business relationships today, but also how sentiments can shift rather quickly—often leaving unresolved tensions lingering in the air.
