White House Expresses Concern Over Israel’s Strike in Qatar

The White House addressed the recent Israeli strike in Qatar, expressing regret over the incident involving senior Hamas officials. President Trump has been actively engaged in discussions surrounding the attack and its implications.

In a statement, the administration emphasized its ongoing commitment to peace, suggesting that the attack represents a troubling deviation from this goal. The spokesperson indicated that Qatar, despite being a U.S. ally, has not been advancing the objectives of either Israel or the U.S.

Leavitt, a representative from the White House, noted that the administration was aware of the military strike and was assessing the situation. Trump had delegated a special team to notify Qatari officials about the “immediate attack.”

Following the strike, Trump reached out to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the situation. The administration underscored a desire for peace amidst the turmoil.

The attack has been condemned by Qatar and neighboring countries, who voiced concerns about escalating regional tensions. Leaders from France and the U.K. also criticized the military action.

Majed Al Ansari, a spokesman for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, stated that several Hamas political members had been sheltered in locations targeted by the Israel-led strikes, calling it a serious violation of international law.

The strike reportedly targeted Khalil Al Haiya, a prominent negotiator for Hamas. Reports suggest that his son lost his life as a result of the attack, according to statements from Hamas officials to Al Jazeera. Additionally, Bader Saad Mohammed Al-Humaidi Al-Dosari, part of Qatar’s internal security forces, was also killed during the strike, as confirmed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

After the incident, Trump further communicated with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, indicating the administration’s ongoing dialogue regarding the matter.
