On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump expressed his intention to join the Abraham Accord as Saudi Arabia seems to be fostering peace and stability in the region.
Trump made these remarks during the Saudi Arabian Investment Forum held in Riyadh.
“It’s truly remarkable; it embodies the unity of Abraham. I have great respect for this nation, especially during this relatively brief time. I will soon participate in the Abraham Accord,” Trump stated.
“This is a significant recognition for your country, and I believe it will play a crucial role in the future of the Middle East. I took a chance on these agreements, and they’ve proven to be a great success for the involved nations,” he noted.
He added that while it would be a privilege for him, he respects that Saudi Arabia will make its own timing choices regarding joining the Accord.
“It will be a remarkable day for the Middle East when Saudi Arabia decides to join us,” he emphasized.
“I envision it being quite special, but it’s important to do things in your own timeframe, and that’s my desire, that’s your desire, and that’s how it will unfold,” he continued.
The Abraham Accord, facilitated by the Trump administration in 2020, currently includes Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan.
The initial agreement was signed on September 15, 2020, between Israel, Bahrain, and the UAE.
