Trump Files $15 Billion Defamation Lawsuit Against New York Times

Donald Trump has initiated a $15 billion lawsuit for defamation against the New York Times, alleging that the publication engaged in an unlawful “campaign contribution” to his opponent, Kamala Harris, in the lead-up to the 2024 election. He described himself as a Democratic “mouthpiece” in this context.

In a statement released late Monday, Trump indicated that the lawsuit would be filed in Florida. This action adds to his ongoing legal battles with various major media outlets. Over the past year, Trump has secured settlements from ABC News and CBS News, which seems to reflect a pattern of challenging media narratives.

“Today, I am, in some ways, a ‘mouthpiece’ for the radical Left Democrats, bringing this $15 billion defamation lawsuit against the New York Times, which I consider one of the most disreputable newspapers in American history,” he stated. He also noted that their support for Kamala Harris has prominently featured on the Times’ front page.

Trump criticized what he calls a long-standing campaign of dishonesty about him, his businesses, and the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.

“We are committed to holding these once-respected papers accountable for their false narratives, just like we did with the lawsuit against George Slopadopoulos/ABC/Disney and CBS’s 60 Minutes,” he asserted. He added that illegal actions shouldn’t grant freedom to lie about him.

Fox News Digital has reached out to both the White House and the New York Times for their responses regarding this lawsuit.
