On Monday night, President Donald Trump urged his supporters to cast their votes in the upcoming midterm elections for Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) and Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

Trump made the trip from Washington, DC, to the Covelli Centre, accompanied by YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul, as well as former football coach Jon Gruden, both of whom have roots in Ohio. Gruden briefly hyped up Husted, his former teammate from the University of Dayton, before introducing the president.

As Trump took the stage with Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” playing, he called on Ohioans to support Ramaswamy, who had previously run against him before endorsing him in the 2024 Republican primary, and Husted, who was appointed last year to fill the seat left vacant by Vice President JD Vance.

“In just twenty-two days, Ohio will defeat Sherrod Brown and elect Jon Husted to the United States Senate,” Trump stated.

He described Ramaswamy as “a very smart guy” and a “good friend,” adding that voters would be pleased with his leadership if he won the gubernatorial race.

“He’s got a lot of great plans, like cutting taxes all over. You’ll be amazed at how good he is, how smart he is. Together, we’re going to elect strong Republican majorities in the House and Senate,” he said.

Trump criticized former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Husted’s opponent, and Democrats in general for issues related to inflation and border security.

“When Sherrod Brown and the Radical Democrats last held power, they gave us the worst inflation in American history and the highest energy prices ever—much worse than now,” he said. “They let 25 million people cross our borders without proper checks, some of them from prisons, drug dealers, rapists, and murderers. It was total chaos.”

He warned that if Democrats managed to secure victories in November, “they will do the exact same thing again.”

“Sherrod Brown recently said he believes in open borders and supports men competing in women’s sports. He even wants to see transgender surgeries for children,” Trump added, prompting boos from the crowd.

“Don’t let Sherrod Brown sneak back into power,” he urged, encouraging the audience to vote for Jon Husted to keep America’s interests first.

Trump also criticized Ramaswamy’s opponent, Amy Acton, the former Ohio Department of Health director from 2019-2020.

“Vivek is up against a total lunatic in Amy Acton, who shut down Ohio schools during COVID and caused businesses to struggle. She made life hard for everyone, and if given the chance, she’d do it again,” he said.
