At the Covelli Centre, he urged the audience to back U.S. Senator Jon Husted against Democrat Sherrod Brown and supported Vivek Ramaswamy in the gubernatorial battle against Democrat Amy Acton.
Trump criticized Brown’s efforts to allocate taxpayer funds for drag queen events in schools, imploring the crowd to prioritize Ohio’s interests and treat this election like a vote for himself.
The president took the opportunity to announce initiatives related to the local economy and infrastructure. He mentioned that the Departments of Energy and Commerce would support SOBE Thermal Energy Systems to ensure that downtown Youngstown buildings remain heated during the winter.
He detailed substantial investments in the state, including $800 million for a new Kimberly-Clark plant in Warren, $48 million for the expansion of Big Steel operations in Youngstown, and $500 million to upgrade Cleveland-Cliffs’ Middletown Works steel mill.
Additionally, he shared that Cleveland would host a new U.S. submarine component repair center, a facility designed for the manufacturing, repair, and maintenance of submarine parts.
Former NFL coach Jon Gruden introduced Trump at the rally, which featured appearances by Cleveland native and boxer Jake Paul, as well as local officials who criticized former Democratic trade policies while emphasizing the importance of law and order.
As the rally concluded, Trump articulated several policy proposals, such as extending tax cuts with no taxes on tips or Social Security benefits, stricter voter-ID laws, and restrictions on medical interventions for minors experiencing gender dysphoria.
He also reiterated a commitment to provide $5,000 payments to Americans if Republicans gain control in Congress.
The speech included ongoing critiques of Democratic leaders, discussions about immigration enforcement, and remarks on foreign policy issues, particularly regarding Iran.
