Former President Donald Trump on Thursday said CNN's Dana Bash has a “chance to become a star” if she gives Vice President Kamala Harris a “fair but tough interview.”
Harris' campaign spokesman said Bash was interviewed as vice president for the first time since entering the 2024 presidential race 39 days ago.
Media have not interviewed Harris on television since June 24, 2024, and the last time reporters asked her questions at a solo press conference was reportedly eight months ago, on December 2, 2023.
“CNN's Dana Bash has a chance for greatness today,” Trump says Posts “If she were to give a fair and tough interview to Comrade Kamala Harris, she would expose her as totally incompetent and unfit for the office of the Presidency, just as I exposed Joe Biden as a villain in that famous debate,” he wrote on Truth Social.
“How great would that be for Dana and for CNN?” Trump asked. “This is Dana Bash's chance to become a real star and at the same time make a huge contribution to our country, which is in decline.”
Trump also mentioned the Harris campaign, which arranged for Gov. Tim Walz (Democrat) to also participate in the interview.

Critics argued that Ms. Harris only agreed to do the first interview with Mr. Walz in order to reduce her speaking time during an hour-long question-and-answer session with CNN's Dana Bash.
“Also, the interview should not have Tampon Tim present to assist Kamala in her inevitable stumbles, and under no circumstances should the record be altered in any way, shape or form,” Trump said.
“Good luck, Dana, do the right thing!” Trump said.
The CNN interview will air on CNN at 9pm ET.
