Trump Has a ‘Mandate’ to Deal with Panama Canal, Greenland

On Monday, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said on Fox News Channel's “Hannity” that voters gave President-elect Donald Trump a “mission” to address the Panama Canal and Greenland issues. .

Guest host Kellyanne Conway said, “Senator, a lot of people tonight have been warning about the Panama Canal and Greenland and the tariffs that President Trump uses to comply with or encourage the actions of other countries.'' As a sitting U.S. senator, please explain how this works and why it is important.

“Kellyanne, the American people gave President Trump a mandate. They are tired of our country not putting the American people first, and we are confident that the Biden administration will deliver on America's last policies,” Blackburn said. So when it comes to dealing with the Panama Canal and making sure that this doesn't give China an advantage and certainly not put the United States at a disadvantage, it makes sense. Let's put it on the table and discuss it.”

She added, “When we talk about the security of our country, Greenland comes up. It's strategic, how do we keep this country safe? That's what Americans want to see. They want to see a department run by people who treat everyone according to the same rule of law. And they will receive equal access, equal treatment, and equal justice. So President Trump has a mandate to make sure we take action and support President Trump. It's up to the U.S. House and Senate, both controlled by Republicans, to get things done.”
