President Donald Trump expressed his trust in the White House medical team, despite concerns that former President Joe Biden may have overlooked a prostate cancer diagnosis, as stated by the White House.
During a press briefing on Monday, White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt reassured the public about Trump’s health. Speculation surged over the weekend regarding Biden’s health, particularly after reports that he has metastatic prostate cancer.
Fox News White House correspondent Peter Dorsey raised the question of whether Trump was worried about Biden’s care, given the potential oversight by the White House doctors. Leavitt replied that Trump has full confidence in the medical professionals at Walter Reed Medical Center, noting that they have provided excellent care and that Trump is in very good health.
In a recent post on social media, Trump conveyed his sadness over Biden’s diagnosis, wishing him a swift recovery. He acknowledged the exhausting trip they took to the Middle East last week, which could serve as proof of his own endurance.
Leavitt mentioned that she believes Trump hasn’t spoken to Biden since the announcement but remains open to doing so.
Biden’s office confirmed on Sunday that he has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer. According to a statement, he identified prostate nodules after experiencing increased urinary symptoms. The diagnosis, with a Gleason score of 9 and metastasis to the bone, indicates a more severe variant of the disease, although it is suggested to be hormone-sensitive, allowing for potential management. Biden and his family are currently discussing treatment options with his doctor.
Biden, at 82, is the oldest president in U.S. history.
