Trump Hosts AI CEO Dinner at the White House

President Donald Trump recently sat down for a private dinner at the White House with Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, a prominent AI research company. Amodei has been vocal about the need for the industry to take a more cautious approach to AI development.

Despite Amodei’s calls for a slower pace in AI advancements, Trump is adamant that accelerating development is essential for maintaining the U.S.’s economic leadership in technology.

This dinner, which took place on a Sunday night, was the first direct meeting between Trump and Amodei. They reportedly talked about Trump’s eagerness to speed up AI research, contrasting with Anthropic’s focus on implementing safer practices in the field. However, specific details from their discussion haven’t been shared at this time.

Both Amodei and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg are expected to join a White House luncheon on Tuesday, hosted by Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.). OpenAI President Greg Brockman is also scheduled to be there, according to various reports.

This meeting occurs against a backdrop of increasing concerns about “rogue AI agents,” including incidents where some allegedly targeted government websites. Nonetheless, Attorney General Todd Blanche has stated that the current legal framework from the Department of Justice is adequate to oversee AI technologies.

Interestingly, Amodei is among the few top tech executives who have not sought a meeting with Trump during his second term, a contrast to other tech leaders who attended the president’s inauguration and have frequently met with him, as noted by reports.

In addition to the AI discussions, Trump and Vice President JD Vance are set to host a full-day event on Tuesday focused on unveiling a new website aimed at federal information and resources, as per a White House official.
