President Donald Trump has no plans to fire Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
When asked by a reporter in the Oval Office on Tuesday if he was planning to fire Powell, Trump said that wasn’t the case.
“No. There’s nothing. I never did. The press runs away with things,” Trump said. “No, I’m not going to fire him. I hope he’ll be a little more aggressive in terms of his idea of lowering interest rates. This is the best time to cut interest rates.”
“If he doesn’t, is it the end? No, it’s not, but that’s good timing.
Trump also said that it would be better to get earlier than Powell’s late. The president repeatedly lowered Powell, including his true social post on Monday, to cut interest rates.
Many people are hoping to “preemptively reduce interest rates.” There is virtually no inflation as energy costs drop, food prices (including Biden’s egg disaster!) are significantly lower, and most other “things” are reduced. These costs have been so low that there is little inflation just what I predicted they would do, but as long as the losers aren’t too slow, there is a slowdown in the economy. Europe has already been “down” seven times. Powell was always “lagged” except for sleepy Joe Biden (the election period he later dropped to help Kamala get elected). How did it work?
Last week, Powell raised the prospects for rating hiking to the line. Earlier this month, he predicted Trump’s tariff policies would lead to inflation.
