Trump Highlights Global Peace Efforts
During a press conference in the Oval Office after a meeting about a US-brokered peace agreement in Africa, President Donald Trump praised his administration’s achievements in fostering global peace deals.
He remarked, “Just a year ago, we weren’t respected. We had an incompetent president, and some not-so-great people around this desk. I think their intentions were not good. But now, the world respects us again.”
Regarding the newly negotiated peace between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Trump described it as “a tremendous breakthrough.”
He further mentioned, “In just a few months, we’ve managed to bring about peace between India and Pakistan, Israel and Iran, and the DRC and Rwanda.”
Trump characterized his NATO trip as “very successful,” noting that allies pledged to invest over a trillion dollars in defense. “We were a huge success,” he noted.
He also highlighted military actions taken against three Iranian nuclear sites, declaring the ceasefires achieved between Israel and Iran following these operations. “We called it ’12 Days of War.’ There were no nuclear weapons involved, which was our goal. They were shocked by the destruction at these sites,” he added.
On the subject of issues in the Middle East, Trump expressed hope for a ceasefire in Gaza “next week,” acknowledging the severity of the situation while retaining a sense of optimism. “I think we’re close. I just spoke with some of the relevant parties,” he said.
Addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, he remarked, “We’re providing significant aid—money and food—because we have to. Theoretically, we’re not involved, but people are suffering.”
He urged other nations to contribute humanitarian assistance to Gaza, stating, “We’re handling the situation, and it’s important for countries worldwide to help out.”
Trump also claimed his administration improved U.S. relations with various countries, including Russia, North Korea, China, and Iran. “Vladimir Putin made impressive statements today. He respects our country now, and President Xi of China does as well,” he asserted.
When asked about approving the US Patriot missile system for Ukraine’s air defense, Trump simply replied, “I.”
