Former President Trump attacked the New York Times on Friday night, accusing former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown of once I took a helicopter trip with him. I almost crashed.
“Two New York Times reporters have questioned my story about a helicopter carrying former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and others making an emergency landing in a field,” Trump said. stated in the post Truth Social. “First off, it happened in New Jersey, not California. And the culprit is Willie Brown, not former Governor Jerry Brown. This is as accurate as any article about me so far.”
“He’s just trying to get on Trump’s jet (helicopter!) again. But now Willie doesn’t remember? No he does!” the former president said, citing a 2011 article to back up his claim.
Speaking at a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Thursday, Trump said he knew Brown “very well” and then addressed the helicopter incident, which has come under scrutiny.
“I actually had a helicopter crash with him and we thought, ‘This might be the end,'” the former president said. “We were in a helicopter together, heading somewhere, and there was an emergency landing. It was not a comfortable landing.”
Brown denied Trump’s claims in an interview with local news outlet KRON 4 on Thursday.
“He was doing what Donald does best: creative fiction,” Brown told the outlet.
“And secondly, I don’t want to be in the same helicopter as him,” he said. “There are too many people, including helicopter mechanics, who have some kind of agenda regarding him.”
The former mayor has recently been in the spotlight as an adviser to Vice President Harris, who has risen through the ranks, secured endorsements from both major parties and become the Democratic presidential nominee earlier this week.
Others have denied the former president’s story, including California Governor Gavin Newsom (Democrat), who was on board the helicopter, and some have suggested the person on board was actually Newsom’s predecessor, former Governor Jerry Brown.
The Republican nominee also slammed The New York Times’ reporting on past presidential elections, with less than three months to go until the 2024 presidential election.
“So far their reporting has been as accurate as any other article about me. At least when I became president, The New York Times apologized to its readers for their truly terrible coverage of the election,” Trump wrote on Friday, specifically naming senior political reporter Maggie Haberman.
“They will probably have to do it again, just as Maggot Hagerman should apologize for her false and fraudulent article about the Russia-Russia-Russia hoax, and many other poorly written and poorly researched articles,” he added.
In a post on Truth Social Friday night, Trump claimed he had logs, maintenance records and witnesses to back up his comments about Brown.
“Why can’t the Radical Left’s failing New York Times write accurately and fairly about me? See the truth! Trump I wrote this on Friday. “My only great goal in life is to make America great again. Wouldn’t that be a good thing for The New York Times? Think about it! They could be great again!”
The Times reported on Friday that Trump I received a furious phone call The newspaper met with one of its reporters that day and criticized the paper for covering Thursday’s press conference.
According to the outlet, the former president suggested he planned to expose the flight records before exclaiming that he was “probably going to sue” over the reports.
