Former President Trump is scheduled to hold a campaign rally in Conway, South Carolina, on Saturday, days after securing victories in Nevada and the Virgin Islands.
Trump hopes to draw voters away from his home state from former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, his only remaining rival in the Republican primary. Haley has yet to win a primary, but she has been campaigning in the state over the weekend.
The former president, seen as the likely Republican nominee, leads Haley in the Palmetto State by a double-digit margin, 62.5% to 30.6%, according to The Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters polling average. are doing.
Ahead of the state’s Feb. 24 primary, Ms. Haley stepped up her attacks on Mr. Trump’s mental health and ran ads criticizing the former president and President Biden as “grumpy old men.” The former governor launched a mobile billboard with an age factor in mind that would be patrolled outside Trump’s rally on Saturday.
Earlier this year, President Trump pushed back against criticism of her age, claiming she could beat Haley on the competency test.
The former president is scheduled to speak Saturday at 2pm ET.
