Trump holds slight lead over Harris in new Georgia poll

Former President Trump has a slight advantage over Vice President Harris in Georgia, a key battleground state, a new poll finds.

In the survey, Conducted by the Atlanta Journal Constitution According to the AJC, Trump leads in the state with 47% approval rating. Harris follows closely with 43%.

With just two weeks left until Election Day, about 8% of likely voters in the Peach State said they still haven't decided who to vote for.

The paper noted that the race, which was already expected to be close, had not changed much since the September polls. While support for Republican candidates remained virtually unchanged, support for the vice president dropped several percentage points. The AJC noted that the percentage of undecided voters has not changed.

Both sides aim to capture Georgia, one of the seven key battleground states. He narrowly defeated President Biden in 2020, helping to confirm the winner of the previous presidential election.

The newspaper reported that with just days left until the campaign, polls show Harris may not have enough support among the state's black voters. It remains to be seen whether the effort changes course, as Harris unveiled an economic agenda for black men and former President Barack Obama encouraged critical voters to support his vice president earlier this month. .

About three-quarters of Black voters in Georgia say they will vote for Harris, far below the 88% that Biden won in 2020, according to the AJC.

Still, the survey found that remaining black voters are more likely to stay away from voting because of Trump.

Only 8% said they would vote for the Republican candidate, but 1 in 5 said they were undecided, making Harris more likely than black voters to vote at all than voting for her Republican rival. This suggests that you should not worry about not doing so.

Early voting in Georgia broke records since it began last week. More than 1 million votes were cast in the first few days of early voting.

The former president leads Harris by 1.1 points in the state (48.6% to 47.5%), according to a Hill/Decision Desk headquarters poll tally. But nationally, Democratic candidates have a slight advantage, 49% to 47.8%, according to the index.

The AJC survey was conducted among 1,000 likely Georgia voters from Oct. 7 to 16, and had a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
