Dinner at the White House with President Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
On Tuesday evening, President Donald Trump hosted a dinner that included Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman alongside various high-profile guests.
This elaborate gathering followed meetings at the White House where discussions revolved around significant topics such as the Abraham Accords, a potential two-state resolution for the Israeli-Palestinian dispute, and the controversial killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Before the crown prince’s visit, Trump had expressed his aim to encourage Saudi Arabia to become part of the Abraham Accords, which could eventually lead to normalized relations with Israel.
During a joint press conference in the Oval Office, the crown prince stated that Saudi Arabia is interested in joining the Abraham Accords, but emphasized the need for a clear path to a two-state solution.
“We will engage in constructive discussions with the president and work to ensure that we have the appropriate conditions set as soon as possible,” he noted.
The dinner boasted guests like soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. Trump mentioned that his son, a huge fan of Ronaldo, had the chance to meet the soccer player, which was a proud moment for him.
“Thank you for being here; it’s truly an honor,” Trump said to the guests.
It was noted that Trump and Musk were on good terms again, as Trump greeted Musk before the dinner, signaling a reconciliation after their past disputes.
Ronaldo, currently playing for the Al Nasr club in the Saudi Professional League, has a lucrative two-year deal worth over $400 million with the team. He recently mentioned that Trump is “one of the people who can help change the world.” This visit coincides with the U.S. preparing to host the 2026 World Cup, which is anticipated to be Ronaldo’s final tournament.
Trump emphasized his commitment to making the 2026 World Cup a remarkable success, stating that ticket sales are already breaking records.
