Trump honors resurrection and faith in Good Friday video from the White House

Trump’s Good Friday Message Highlights Religious Revival

On Good Friday, President Donald Trump shared his message from his Resolve Desk, emphasizing a “revival” of religion throughout the United States during his second term. He stated, “As I’ve often said, to be a great country we need religion, we need God.”

This message serves as a core aspect of Trump’s view on America’s strength, reflecting his belief in a wider cultural shift back to faith. The video posted on Truth Social honors the Christian faith and claims that religion is rekindling in the U.S.

In a push to protect religious expression among federal employees, the Trump administration has issued new guidance.

Trump often references his Presbyterian background, recalling time spent in Sunday school and attributing his faith to his devoted Scottish mother and his “very strong” but “big-hearted” father. He expressed optimism for the future of American churches, saying, “On Sunday, churchgoers across America will be fuller, younger, and more faithful than they have been in years. Religion is growing again in our country for the first time in decades.”

The President advocates for prayer and faith in public life, highlighting initiatives like the America 250 Prayer Initiative and the White House Office of Faith, both established early in his second term.

During his address, Trump expressed pride in collaborating with Christians during Holy Week: “This Holy Week, I am proud to join Christians across this country and around the world in celebrating the most glorious miracle in history: the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” he remarked, further echoing sentiments of humility and love associated with Christ.

He quoted scripture, specifically John 3:16, to reinforce his message.

Highlighting his differences from former President Joe Biden, Trump’s forthright celebration of Christian holidays stands out; Biden opted for a more understated three-paragraph statement for Easter in 2024.

Since surviving an assassination attempt in July 2024, Trump has become more vocal about his faith. During a speech to Congress in 2025, he stated, “I believe my life was saved that day at Butler for a very good reason. I was saved by God to make America great again. I believe that.”

Concluding his remarks, Trump wished everyone a blessed holiday: “Happy Easter everyone. May God bless you. God bless the United States of America.”

The White House did not comment immediately on requests for feedback.
