Trump Maintains Wuhan Lab Theory Amid Fauci Hearing
President Donald Trump recently took to Truth Social to express his strong belief that COVID-19 was released from a lab in Wuhan, China. He criticized former President Joe Biden for granting Dr. Anthony Fauci “vast destructive power” during the pandemic, insisting he had warned Biden that Fauci was not trustworthy.
This post surfaced just before Fauci was scheduled to testify before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, following a subpoena from committee Chair Rand Paul (R-Ky.). In the hearing, Fauci repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment, declining to answer questions over 100 times related and unrelated to COVID-19.
In his post early Wednesday morning, Trump called Fauci’s opinions “crazy” and reiterated that he had been highlighting the potential lab origins of the virus from the outset.
“Many more people died of COVID under the Biden Administration than under the Trump Administration. ‘Operation Warp Speed’ was a SPECTACULAR SUCCESS; many say it was one of the most successful initiatives ever undertaken by an American President. I went against Fauci on this. His ideas were CRAZY!” Trump remarked. He also emphasized, “I always said the Virus came from the Wuhan Laboratory in China. Fauci strongly disagreed, trying to protect China.”
“I inherited Fauci, who had been around since the 1980s, but each day I relied on him less. He made several poor decisions, especially regarding MASKS. At first, he was against them; then he was all for them. Regardless, I didn’t allow him to shut down the country; he wanted that. I preferred a federalist approach, leaving it to the governors, who managed things far better than the Democrats,” he continued.
“Fauci was mostly sidelined, then came Sleepy Joe Biden, who elevated Fauci to a ‘King’ status. I reached out to Biden to express my concerns about Fauci; I told him Fauci was either clueless or dishonest. Biden seemed to take the message but ultimately ignored it, resulting in Fauci being given significant authority. And well, the rest is history!”
Before the hearing, Paul shared over 1,000 pages of Fauci’s diary, which showcased inconsistencies in Fauci’s statements regarding the virus’s nature and origins during the pandemic.
Since the pandemic began, Paul has advocated for a criminal investigation of Fauci, claiming he provided misleading information in prior congressional testimonies.
