Trump Directs Release of Alien-Related Documents
On Thursday, President Donald Trump revealed plans to instruct the Department of Defense, under Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth, along with other federal agencies, to make public documents concerning “aliens,” extraterrestrial life, and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs).
In a post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned, “Given the strong interest shown, I’m directing the Secretary of the Army and other relevant departments to start the process of identifying and releasing government files related to aliens and extraterrestrials, UAPs, UFOs, and related information on these complex yet intriguing issues. God bless America!”
This announcement came after Trump’s comments to reporters while on Air Force One, where he took issue with former President Barack Obama for what he termed a “big mistake.” Obama had recently stated in a podcast that aliens are “real,” but he had never encountered them and that no extraterrestrials were housed in Area 51 or other secret facilities.
Trump expressed, “He provided classified information. He shouldn’t have done that. I can’t confirm if they’re real or not. All I know is he released classified information. That’s a big mistake. It was out of classified context.”
Meanwhile, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), chair of the House Oversight Committee’s Task Force on Declassification of Federal Secrets, voiced her criticism regarding Trump’s announcement.
Conversely, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), another member of the Declassification Task Force, expressed his enthusiasm via X.
