Trump Calls for Dismissal of Labor Statistics Chief
Following President Donald Trump’s criticism, the Bureau of Labor Statistics is now facing potential leadership changes. The latest employment report, released on Friday, was disappointing, showing fewer job benefits than anticipated. However, it also highlighted a considerable rise in the number of new jobs created in the U.S. Trump’s rationale for targeting Dr. Erica Mantelfer, the Bureau’s commissioner, stems from past revisions to employment data.
“I’ve instructed my team to fire this Biden appointee immediately. A more qualified individual will take her place,” he stated.
The BLS’s report indicated an increase of about 383,000 U.S.-born workers, whereas employment among foreign-born individuals dropped by around 467,000. The report also revisited earlier employment statistics for May and June, reflecting a reduction of 258,000 jobs.
The President took to True Social to voice discontent, suggesting inaccuracies in the reported figures. “Our country’s job numbers are manipulated by Biden’s appointee, Dr. Erica Mantelfer. I suspect attempts to create favorable job reports before the election to aid Kamala’s chances,” he remarked.
He referred to a revision concerning 818,000 jobs from March 2024, criticizing what he perceived as bias in the adjusted figures for 112,000 jobs.
“These numbers were unprecedented—isn’t it odd how wrong they could be? We need reliable job statistics. I have compelled my team to terminate this Biden appointee swiftly,” Trump stated. “We require an honest and precise portrayal in such crucial metrics. They shouldn’t be altered for political motivations.”
Trump further expressed frustration over recent employment reports and revisions for earlier months.
“The economy is thriving under ‘Trump’. Do people genuinely believe that ‘Kamala’ could be chosen amid a declining rate, especially just before the presidential elections?” he added.
Blaze News attempted to reach BLS for their perspective.
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer criticized Trump’s economic impacts, asserting, “It’s troubling to see this, but the consequences of Trump’s trade war are becoming evident, and ordinary Americans are bearing the brunt.” He didn’t hold back in his observations, labeling the current situation chaotic.
The stock market saw a drop during the morning’s trading session but managed to recover most of the losses by midday.
