Trump at 2025 Army-Navy Game
President Trump, alongside Vice President J.D. Vance, made an appearance at the Army-Navy game held just outside Washington, D.C., where they saluted during the national anthem.
While at the event, Trump announced that he intends to sign an executive order that would safeguard broadcast slots specifically for Army-Navy football games. This move seems to come in response to discussions around expanding the NCAA College Football Playoff, which may affect when the Army-Navy game airs.
“The Army-Navy game is one of America’s greatest traditions of unparalleled patriotism, courage, and honor!” Trump stated. He expressed concern that this beloved tradition is at risk of being overlooked due to increasing college playoff games and the accompanying television revenue. “Not anymore!” he declared.
Outside the stadium, protests erupted during Trump’s visit.
The president revealed that his executive order will preserve a four-hour broadcast window in December dedicated to this game, ensuring its exclusivity against any postseason matchups.
“Under my administration, the second Saturday in December is for the Army and Navy, and only the Army and Navy!” he asserted. He emphasized that the upcoming order will prioritize the game over any commercial postseason activities, stating, “No other game or team can infringe on this time slot!!!”
Trump praised the athletes, remarking, “On the battlefield, they are America’s unstoppable patriots, defending our country with tremendous strength and heart.” He added that protecting this tradition also means upholding the integrity of the players who serve in the military. “Please let this serve as a notice to all television networks,” he urged.
On December 13, Trump attended the 126th Army-Navy Game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, marking his seventh visit. The Navy Midshipmen triumphed over the Army Black Knights with a score of 17-16, claiming the Commander in Chief Trophy.
Additionally, Trump mentioned that he plans to attend the College Football Playoff Championship in Miami on Monday, accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
