Trump Addresses Governor’s Dinner Guest List
Recently, President Trump aimed to correct what he described as inaccuracies regarding the list of attendees for an upcoming governor’s dinner at the White House.
On Wednesday, he criticized governors from both major political parties while attempting to clarify these “misstated” details.
“I invited the governor’s SLOB, JB Pritzker, and the dreaded California governor, Gavin Newscome, to dinner,” he remarked.
Trump also targeted Oklahoma’s Governor Kevin Stitt, labeling him a “RINO” and asserting that he would only host Republican governors. “That’s not true. Invitations were sent to every governor except for two who I believe aren’t deserving of attending,” he clarified.
Moving on, he specifically mentioned two Democratic governors who were not invited: Colorado’s Jared Polis and Maryland’s Wes Moore, along with his reasons for their exclusion. “I didn’t invite the governor of Colorado, who wrongly imprisoned a 73-year-old woman with cancer in solitary confinement while battling Democratic voter fraud. And the foul-mouthed governor of Maryland, who falsely claimed he received military medals and failed at rebuilding the Francis Scott Key Bridge while construction continued on in Baltimore. That’s a recipe for disaster.”
Trump’s comments were likely referring to a well-known case involving a former employee from Mesa County. The bridge in question had collapsed in March 2024 after a ship hit one of its piers.
Although Mr. Polis and Mr. Moore weren’t asked to join, Trump extended invitations to the remainder of the governors, even including some of his vocal critics. He didn’t hold back on those either. “I invited the governor’s SLOB, J.B. Pritzker, and the terrible California governor, Gavin Newsome, even though they perform poorly. So, as always, Mr. Stitt was mistaken! Invitations were sent out to all other governors, both Democrat and Republican,” he stated, eager to meet those who would attend.
“I look forward to connecting with some Republican governors as well as Democratic ones who really deserve an invite, though I suspect most won’t show up,” he added.
