Trump is a ‘threat to democracy’— and that’s a good thing

Democrats have long repeatedly argued that former President Donald Trump is a “threat to democracy.”

And strangely enough, after years of inciting Americans with his rhetoric, Trump has literally come under fire in recent months after two assassination attempts.

“When you rile up your supporters for so long by saying that democracy is the most important thing and that President Trump is an existential threat to democracy, it drives people crazy,” Natalie Winters, co-host of Steve Bannon's “War Room,” told Liz Wheeler of “The Liz Wheeler Show.”

“You're dealing with crazy people who are looking for a sense of purpose. And Kamala Harris is [and the Democrats] “They use rhetoric to make it easy for them to have it,” she continues.

But Winters doesn't think Democrats are wrong to call Trump a “threat to democracy.”

“In a way, they're right, but I think they're misusing the word democracy. I always say, first of all, we're obviously not a democracy. We're a constitutional republic,” Winters explains.

“Trump was an anomaly. He was a shock to the system,” she continues, “if you look at democracy through the lens of the sham election of a candidate.”

“If you look at democracy as they say it is, in that sense they're right that President Trump is a threat to that form of democracy,” she continued, adding, “But I think the real error is that democracy doesn't work except for the elites, the ruling class.”
