On Thursday, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Legislative, Political and Public Affairs James Blair revealed that President Donald Trump has already begun investing in the midterm elections.
This information surfaced during a discussion on the Punchbowl News podcast. Fly out day.
When asked by Jake Sherman about Trump’s electoral spending, Blair confidently responded, “I think the president will spend. I’m very confident in that. In fact, the president is already spending. He doesn’t need to tout it all the time.”
In addressing Sherman’s follow-up question, Blair noted that while Trump isn’t allocating campaign funds in Texas—where a competitive three-way race is happening for the Republican nomination among Sen. John Cornyn, Rep. Wesley Hunt, and Attorney General Ken Paxton—he is directing resources elsewhere.
He expressed strong belief that Republicans will secure the Senate seat and mentioned that Trump is ready to invest in Texas if needed to maintain a Republican hold.
Blair further highlighted Trump’s collaboration with House and Senate Republicans on fundraising efforts, including support for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), which is the campaign group for House Republicans.
“He’s also helping with fundraising. I think the NRCC raised a record $35 million in just four weeks at his dinner in April, and he’s part of the committee. I’m pretty confident he’ll spend it. Money will not be our limiting factor,” Blair stated.
He added, “He knows how to deploy his resources and ultimately he will spend what he needs to help the team win.”
In an August interview with Breitbart News, Trump emphasized that reducing drug prices through most-favored-nation negotiations would be crucial as the midterm elections approach.
“Well, one of the things they talk about right away is a huge drop in drug prices. You know, we’ve reduced drug prices by 1,200, 1,300, 1,400, 1,500 percent. I don’t mean 50 percent, I mean 1,400 to 1,500 percent, because we’re going to preferential countries,” he mentioned.
“We want the same prices as in Europe. We want the same prices as in Europe.” [every] Other countries get. And over the years, 25 to 30 years ago, they started charging us much more,” he added.
Additionally, it’s notable that in the last month, President Trump has been in negotiations with EMD Serono concerning the most-favored-nation agreement for Pfizer drugs and IVF drug pricing.
