Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-Pennsylvania) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that former President Donald Trump is “an agent of chaos who seeks to limit our freedoms.”
A partial transcription follows:
SHAPIRO: Joe Biden is going to be our nominee, and I’m proud to support him. He talks about being a bridge. And let me tell you one thing, he helped repair a bridge on Interstate 95 in his 12 days. He was my partner in that, and he was also a partner for many of us across the country in moving the country forward, saving the economy from ruin, and helping America get back on its feet post-pandemic. This is the president who delivered it.
Well, we have to go out and make that case. The President, the Vice President, and those of us who supported him and had the privilege of sitting in the front row. We must go out and do this important work now. Going back to what I said earlier about Charlamagne’s voice, I think this is really going to be an election, and yes, Joe Biden and Donald Trump are the candidates, but really, what kind of president is this? This is a question for all Americans. What kind of country do we want to build?
On the one hand, we have agents of complete chaos. Someone who wants to limit our freedoms and someone who puts himself first is Donald Trump. I mean, think about this, remember when Donald Trump was president. He was bringing chaos into our faces and into our lives every day. Just think what would happen here in Pennsylvania if he had his way and repealed Obamacare as he promised. That means 1.2 million Pennsylvanians will be without health insurance.
Consider whether a national ban on abortion would get his way. This man is trying to take away the freedom of millions of women across this country. We’ve already seen what he was going to do when people went to vote and chose someone other than him. He is trying to overthrow the government.
This man is a stooge of chaos who is trying to limit our freedoms and every American needs to stand up and be considered if they will continue to be a voice for freedom and democracy, this is true all over the world. It will be a ray of hope for many countries. So in many ways, this election isn’t about Joe Biden and Donald Trump, it’s about us and what kind of country we want to build. And I have confidence in the American people that they will rise up just as they did in 2020, demand more, seek justice, defend the freedoms of this country, and reject Donald Trump. . .
