On Thursday's NewsNation Now broadcast, John Sandweg, who served as acting ice director under President Obama, said the Trump administration is pursuing self-reports and that some illegal immigrants have decided to leave the country voluntarily as possible.
Sandweg said, “Look, I think we're going to find here. Perhaps this year isn't too dramatically different. Certainly, you'll compare it to the Obama era. I don't think it's fair to compare it to the Biden era.
He added that the big difference between Trump and Obama is that Trump is “truly trying to do something self-reporting, not just massive deportation.” I think you saw it with rhetoric.
Sandweg said, “What we still don't know is how this has affected the population that lived here. They're looking at this proverb, hey, I'm scared to live in America now.
