President Trump is set to mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks at the Pentagon next month, according to information shared with The Post.
However, he is not anticipated to be present at the annual memorial service in Manhattan at Ground Zero, the site where the World Trade Center once stood, following insights from a source familiar with the situation.
The White House has not yet responded to requests for comment on this matter.
Sources reveal that Trump was indeed expected to attend the Ground Zero ceremony, but this was as recent as August 14.
It remains unclear what led to the change in his plans.
The anniversary, which commemorates the tragic loss of 2,977 lives, occurs just after the Republican Party’s two-day midterm convention in Dallas, where Trump is scheduled to appear.
Additionally, he will be in Ireland on September 12 and 13, meeting with US embassy staff and business leaders before participating in the Irish Open golf tournament at his resort in Doonbeg.
The New York Times noted that one reason Trump has decided not to attend the Manhattan ceremony is that the event’s organizers did not permit him to speak.
Vice President JD Vance is expected to represent the administration at the New York City memorial.
Since 2012, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum has prohibited politicians from delivering speeches at Ground Zero.
The ceremony in New York City will include six moments of silence to reflect on the pivotal moments of the attacks, including the strikes on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, as well as the Flight 93 crash in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Following this, families will read the names of their loved ones who were lost.
