Trump jokes that he hopes wife Melania ‘said good things about me’ in her upcoming memoir

Former President Donald Trump joked at a rally in Long Island on Wednesday that he hopes his wife, Melania, will write “nice things” about him in her upcoming memoir.

The 78-year-old Republican presidential candidate was promoting the former first lady's book, due for release in October, drawing cheers and laughter from the raucous crowd at Nassau Coliseum.

“Buy her book,” he cried. “She's just written a book. I hope she'll have good things to say about me.”

“Please buy it. It's great. If she says anything bad about me I'm going to call you all and tell you not to buy it and throw it away,” Trump joked, as his supporters laughed.

Melania Trump, 54, has been stepping up promotion of her book, titled “Melania,” in recent weeks.

The former first lady previously said in a video posted online that she wanted to tell readers “the truth”, claiming that she had been the victim of “misunderstandings” during her husband's time in the spotlight.
