A Fox News poll released Thursday shows former President Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden by 8 points in the battleground state of Georgia.
investigation found Trump not only led Biden in the head-to-head race, he also won with a majority of votes, winning 51% of the vote to Biden’s 43%, an 8-point difference. This is important because the difference between the two in the 2020 general election was 0.3 percentage points.
The survey found that Mr. Trump led groups such as evangelicals and conservatives, as expected, but also found that he had a 20-point advantage over Mr. Biden among independents, with 51% The approval rating was 31% higher than that of the 81-year-old Trump, who had been gaining support.
Interestingly, younger voters under 35 also gave Trump a 7-point advantage, with 50% choosing him over Biden and 43% choosing him.
Additionally, voters are more likely to trust Trump than Biden on important issues such as immigration, border security, and the economy, with a +21 and +18 preference for Trump over Biden, respectively.
According to Fox News:
Trump is at the top on most issues. Many Georgia voters favor Biden on immigration/border security (+21 Trump is better), economy (+18), Israel/Hamas (+15), and Ukraine/Russia (+11). I trust Trump more. Voters are divided on health care (Trump +2), election integrity (Trump +1), and abortion (same). The only issue where Biden has an advantage is climate change (Biden +5).
Mr. Trump continues to maintain his lead over Mr. Biden even when third-party candidates are involved. In that scenario, Trump would lead with 45% support, still eight points ahead of Biden, who has 37% support. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. follows with 8% support, followed by Cornel West with 3% and Jill Stein with 1%.
President Trump’s advantage in Georgia is very likely related to negative sentiment about the state of the economy. The survey found that 44% of Georgians feel like they are falling behind economically.
