Former President Donald Trump maintains his lead nationally over President Joe Biden even after his conviction in a heavily Democratic Manhattan business records trial, according to a CBS News/YouGov poll.
The poll, conducted Wednesday and Friday, found that exactly half of voters, including Trump supporters, support Trump for president — 49% — one percentage point ahead of Biden, and just 1% said they would vote for a third party candidate.
Among independents, the polls are neck and neck, with Biden winning 50% of voters and Trump winning 48%. Each candidate has the support of 94% of their party’s voters and 5% of their rivals.

Trump supporters are more enthusiastic than Biden supporters, with 69% of Biden supporters saying their support for Trump is so strong that they have “decided” that Biden is the nominee. In contrast, 78% of Trump supporters say they support the 45th president so strongly that they have “decided” to vote for Biden.
Voters also feel they would be better off economically under Donald Trump.
