Trump makes emotional return after surviving assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump made an emotional return to public life just two days after he survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.

President Trump made his first public appearance since surviving an assassination attempt at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee over the weekend, and was shown on a big screen for the first time walking down the tunnel to take his seat inside the convention hall.

The crowd erupted in cheers as Trump, bandaged from an ear wound grazed by a bullet on Saturday, made his way to his seat.

The former president finally entered the arena to the tune of Lee Greenwood’s famous song “God Bless the USA” and was met with thunderous applause from the crowd.

Trump then sat down to listen to a range of “ordinary Americans,” some of whom grew emotional at times, as supporters of the former president explained why Americans should send him back to the White House in 2025.

Despite fearing for his life in Saturday’s shooting, Trump insisted the convention would go on as scheduled, and arrived in Milwaukee on Sunday night, making his first public appearance just two days after the assassination attempt.
