Former President Donald Trump made a surprise appearance in the Spin Room on Tuesday night after his first debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, who is seeking the White House.
The Democratic presidential candidate left the event after it ended and did not answer reporters' questions.
In a rare spin room appearance, Trump spoke to reporters for a few minutes. Candidates typically do not appear in person after a debate, but instead have a surrogate speak to reporters.
“We won the debate. Our network was terrible. I think they were awful and they should be ashamed.”
Trump He told a reporter“I think it was the best debate we've ever had.”
“It shows how weak they are, how pathetic they are in trying to destroy our country on the border, on foreign trade, on every front,” he said. “Polls are showing us 92-6, 88-11. There are a lot of great polls.”
Trump then said: Sean Hannity on Fox News He appeared on the show to reflect on his performance, and during the interview he said the two ABC News hosts were biased towards Harris.
“It was fun. I think it was the best debate ever. I thought it was really good. It was 3 to 1, but I expected that,” Trump told Hannity.
“[Harris is] “They've been complaining about everything that's wrong with this country and they've been there for three and a half years,” Trump said, repeating comments he made during the debate.
Hannity and Trump clarified some of the falsehoods Harris made about the former president during the event, with Hannity pointing out that despite Harris' claims, Trump has never supported a nationwide abortion ban and has no affiliation with Project 2025.
Harris' campaign is reportedly pushing for a second debate with Trump.
“She wants that because she lost,” Trump said.
Asked whether he would take part in another debate with Harris, Trump replied: “Well, I don't know. I'd have to think about it.”
“If it's a fair network, they might do that,” he added.
Asked why he decided to appear on Spin Room, he said: “I just felt like doing it. I'm very happy with the outcome. This is a very unfair situation. They are weaponising our government politically.”
On Wednesday morning, Trump Fox News' “Fox & Friends” He reiterated that the debate was 3-1 and noted that the moderators fact-checked what he said but not what Harris said.
“The press in this country is shockingly dishonest,” Trump told Fox News. “We won the debate. Our press was terrible. I think they were terrible and they should be ashamed.”
Trump said he “has no intention” to debate Harris again because he “won by a landslide” in the debate.
“But I think we'll stay calm and see what happens,” he added.
Unlike Trump, Harris has largely avoided media appearances, except for a CNN interview in late August alongside her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
