Former President Donald Trump arrived at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, two days after surviving an assassination attempt.
Lee Greenwood addressed the crowd first, declaring “prayer works” before introducing President Trump.
“Is there any doubt who will be the next president of the United States?” he asked.
“Prayer works. This country is based on faith. Prayer works because I’m sure if Donald Trump had just turned his head a little bit, the bullet would have just dodged him and saved his life to become the next president of the United States,” Greenwood said as the crowd cheered.
“We’ve believed for a long time that God is going to bring some change to this country, and God is going to bring some change to this administration,” Trump said, before entering the room chanting “God bless America.”

On Saturday evening, with gauze covering his bullet-hit ear, Trump walked off the stage, fist raised, visibly moved by the outpouring of support in the moment. The crowd could be heard chanting, “Fight, fight, fight.” This is significant because it’s what a bleeding Trump had shouted at the crowd in Butler, Pennsylvania, moments after the assassination attempt, with his fist raised.

Trump, the former president and now official Republican nominee, waved to the excited crowd and appeared to take in the moment after an emotional 48 hours. He appeared to shake hands with Sens. Tucker Carlson, Byron Donald (R-Fla.) and family members, including Donald Trump Jr., who looked on proudly as his father nearly lost his life just two days earlier.
