On Friday morning, former President Donald Trump criticized New York Democrat Jerry Nadler in a social media post, referring to him as “a psychotic nut job” and labeling him “one of the most disgusting lawmakers in US history.” Trump noted that Nadler’s decision not to run for re-election in 2026 was significant, saying, “Jerry Nadler, one of the most disgusting MPs in American history, is finally calling it ‘stop.’ He’s finally leaving Congress!”
Trump recounted his long-standing opposition from Nadler, mentioning that he faced resistance during his time as a developer in New York City. He stated, “For no reason, I couldn’t stop me from getting the job done.”
He also added, “When Nadler, a pathetic lightweight, is out of our office, we’ll be in a much safer Washington, DC. It will be a great day for America!”
In response, Nadler dismissed Trump’s remarks in a statement released to Fox News Digital. He remarked, “I knew Donald Trump as much as he knew Jeffrey Epstein. I’ve always known him as he was, and now he’s a two-time president, a convicted felon, a major rebel.”
Nadler has served in the U.S. House of Representatives for over 30 years and announced that he would not seek re-election. He acknowledged the difficulty of his decision in a formal statement released on Tuesday, saying, “For over 32 years, I have had the honor of serving the people of New York in the US Congress. Today I am not seeking reelection next year and announce that this term in Congress will be my last.” He added that had he resigned this term, he would have reached 50 years in public service, continuously elected by the people of New York.
