President Trump is contemplating a trip to New York to catch his beloved Knicks in action during the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. The 79-year-old is considering attending the crucial Games 3 and 4, set for June 8 and June 10, according to reports.

Having made appearances at various high-profile sporting events recently, from the Daytona 500 to Yankees games, this would mark him as the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals game.

Originally, there were plans for him to surprise attendees with a visit during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, before the Knicks went on to sweep the Cleveland Cavaliers in four games.

While it’s still uncertain which games Trump will attend, it’s safe to say that devoted Knicks fans might be willing to shell out significant amounts to witness their team pursue its first championship in over five decades.

As of Tuesday morning, price tags for these games have reached historic highs in the NBA. The lowest ticket for Game 3, for instance, is listed at $2,845 on various ticketing platforms.

Details regarding logistics remain unclear, such as where Trump would watch the game and what extra security measures would be in place inside and outside the venue.

Trump has recently reiterated his support for the Knicks and mentioned his relationship with team owner James Dolan. He remarked, “I get along with Jim Dolan. I think he’s a really good guy, and he deserves to be on a good team because he’s been through a little bit,” during a recent radio interview.

Following the Knicks’ victories, thousands of fans have filled the streets outside Madison Square Garden, prompting heightened police presence and several arrests.

Just last September, Trump attended the U.S. Open final in Queens with his granddaughter and other associates. Days later, on the 9/11 anniversary, he watched a Yankees game from a bulletproof suite in the Bronx.

New York City Mayor Mamdani, who has forged a friendly rapport with President Trump since a meeting in November, observed the Knicks’ Game 2 victory over Cleveland quietly. After the Knicks’ road sweep, he humorously tweeted about the Cavaliers.
