Trump’s Future Peace Endeavors After Presidency

After stepping down, President Trump may embark on an ambitious “peace commission” to promote his global legacy, according to U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee. In a recent interview, Huckabee mentioned that Trump plans to stay active in international affairs well beyond 2028, possibly putting more effort into peacebuilding initiatives post-presidency.

“Those who know him understand he won’t just retire quietly,” Huckabee remarked. “He’s not the type to sit back and relax, maybe play some golf here and there. It just doesn’t suit him.”

Instead, Huckabee proposed that Trump’s new peace commission could be a long-term project aimed at uniting world leaders to tackle conflicts. He indicated that Trump has already taken on the role of chairman and expressed a desire for the commission’s headquarters to be in Washington.

“This could indeed become his next venture after leaving office, as he genuinely aspires to leave a legacy of peacebuilding,” Huckabee commented.

Reflecting on Trump’s influence on global peace initiatives, Huckabee referenced a biblical beatitude that emphasizes the essence of peacemaking. “There’s a passage that states, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers,’ but many mistakenly interpret it as ‘Blessed are those who avoid conflict,'” he explained. “Loving peace doesn’t necessarily mean achieving it.”

He further remarked that symbols of peace, like tattoos or signs, don’t actually produce peace, but he maintained that Trump wants to be a facilitator of peace.

Huckabee attested to Trump’s role in alleviating several international tensions and underscored that the president sees himself as an active force for stability, rather than simply a caretaker of tranquility. He emphasized Trump’s unyielding energy and his willingness to challenge diplomatic norms to garner real results in global conflicts, from Eastern Europe to the Middle East.

“All of this is occurring because we have a leader with vision and boundless energy, someone ready to take unconventional paths in politics and diplomacy,” Huckabee noted. “And it has been effective.”
