President Trump said MSNBC hosts Nicolle Wallace and Rachel Maddow “should be forced to resign.”
“The worst thing than CNN is 'MS-DNC'. This is the worst. And the good news is that there are so few people who see them anymore,” he said. He told reporters In an oval office on Thursday.
“They lost that credibility, and frankly, what Nicole Wallace said – I'm not a fan of her, she wasn't very talented – but I tell you what she said the other day about the young man. She should be forced to resign,” he added.
Wallace received her comments about DJ Daniels, a 13-year-old cancer survivor, and Trump gave her an honorary secret service badge and invited her as a special guest to Tuesday's joint session.
The host of the “Deadline: White House” show said Daniels “hopefully doesn't need to defend the U.S. Capitol against supporters of Donald Trump. If so, I hope he isn't one of the six who will lose his life to suicide.”
In addition to Trump's criticism of Wallace's remarks, he also attacked Madou, attacking her credibility.
“And Rachel Madow should be forced to resign. No one will see her anyway. I don't know if they can't pay as much as I've heard, but certainly she's lost all the credibility,” he said.
“Both. But what they said the other day is that for young people who are suffering, they should be forced to resign.”
MSNBC has undergone structural changes in recent months due to changes in leadership after former President Rashida Jones resigned in January. She was taken over by Rebecca Kutler, the network's senior vice president of content strategy, appointed as interim president.
Kutler then made major changes and removed shows such as “The Reidout” and “Alex Wagner Tonight.”
