Trump Must Get Congress’s Approval Before Accepting Jet

During a segment on CNN’s “Outfront” that aired on Monday, Sen. Jamie Ruskin (D-MD) stated that President Donald Trump needs to get approval for a $400 million jet from the royal family of Qatar before he can accept it.

Host Erin Burnett had posed a question about this issue.

Ruskin remarked, “Well, indeed there is a requirement. The Constitution plays a crucial role here, as it prevents the acceptance of any kind of gifts, duties, or titles from foreign entities.”

He continued, “We need to consult Congress when it comes to accepting gifts from foreign nations. This is precisely the situation at hand. There are numerous national security issues involved, given that the government provides this aircraft, and it also relates to various aspects of foreign policy. Thus, Congress needs to engage in this discussion.”
