Trump Critiques Networks Over 2020 Election Remarks
In a recent speech regarding interference in the 2020 election, President Donald Trump expressed his discontent with both NBC and ABC. He claimed these networks are part of a conspiracy aimed at withholding the truth from the American public.
During his address on Thursday, Trump called for the revocation of broadcasting licenses for the two news organizations, accusing them of ignoring his speech.
“In a surprising decision, NBC and ABC have both stated they will not cover this speech… This is because they dislike the topic and are aware of the corruption within our system. They seem unwilling to expose it,” Trump stated during his evening address.
While both networks eventually shared their addresses through digital platforms, they chose not to air them live on their main TV channels.
In contrast, CNN opted out of the speech entirely. Anchor Caitlan Collins explained that the network was fact-checking the president’s comments instead of airing them in real time.
“As always, we will monitor what the president says tonight, but we aren’t airing it live because of his well-known history of making false statements regarding elections,” Collins mentioned.
