Goldman Comments on Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
During Wednesday’s episode of AC360, Representative Daniel Goldman (D-NY) expressed that the assassination of Charlie Kirk would push him to oppose certain rhetoric coming from the right regarding the U.S. president.
Goldman stated, “I didn’t know Charlie Kirk personally. I followed some of what he said. I was against almost everything he said, but sadly, I think we’re all scared.” There’s an unsettling feeling that he described as pervasive.
Host Anderson Cooper remarked, “That certainly isn’t a message we’re hearing from some of the far-right podcasting segments that profit from this type of rhetoric.”
In response, Goldman said, “It’s incredibly dangerous. I’m really disappointed. I urge you to recognize the opposition to this. I don’t see it as simply a right or left issue. This situation indicates a collapse of our democracy; we can’t just go after one side like that. It’s a completely different context, and I hope people come to understand that this isn’t a war.”
