Former President Trump on Wednesday alluded to his numerous legal problems, impeachment and partisan opposition, calling himself the most maligned president in the nation’s history.
President Trump told Newsmax’s Greg Kelly that Andrew Jackson received the “absolute worst treatment” as president, with assassinated Abraham Lincoln coming in second place. But Trump continued, his experience outweighs both.
“When you think about fakes, no one has. No one has been treated worse than Mr. Trump,” Trump said Wednesday, speaking of himself in the third person.
“Russia, Russia, Russia, Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine. It was all a fraud and literally the beginning of a new fraud,” he continued. “If either one wins, we’ll start another Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2. It’s all misinformation and fraud. And I think if they dedicate their time to making America great again, it will be much more. I said it would be easy.”
The former president has been impeached twice and currently faces a total of 91 criminal charges in multiple cases. He dismissed all allegations as politically motivated attacks.
Trump’s first criminal case, in which he is accused of illegally concealing hush money payments to cover up allegations of an affair, is scheduled to go to trial in New York in late March. He also faces two criminal charges related to charges of trying to overturn the 2020 election and another case related to charges of mishandling classified information.
Trump described his political campaign as a “war,” adding that he was motivated by working against “very evil people.”
The former president officially secured the Republican nomination after Wednesday’s Washington primary, confirming that he will run against President Biden in November in the 2020 election. The two men are tied in the polls, with Trump holding a slight lead, according to Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters polling averages.
