Trump Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize by House GOP Allies
President Donald Trump’s supporters in the House of Representatives have put forth his name for the Nobel Peace Prize, aiming to recognize his efforts in mediating the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Rep. Andy Ogles from Tennessee, along with Rep. Jim Stutzman from Indiana, spearheaded a letter to the Nobel Committee on Tuesday.
Their nomination emphasizes Trump’s role as a peace broker, particularly highlighting his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his recent discussions with European leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
GOP Lawmakers Handling Government Shutdown Tensions
“We respectfully present this nomination of President Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize,” Ogles and Stutzman stated, citing his efforts to foster international collaboration, diffuse tensions, and promote reconciliation.
They noted, “Trump’s leadership has led to significant diplomatic agreements and an overall reduction in global conflicts, striving for a more peaceful world.”
Recently, Trump met with Putin in Alaska, marking the first in-person meeting between the two since Trump’s previous presidency. Both parties characterized the meeting positively.
This was followed by a notable gathering at the White House where Trump met with Zelensky and other leaders. During this meeting, he assured Ukraine of substantial support regarding security, terming Europe as Ukraine’s primary ally.
Following the discussions, Trump emphasized in a post that steps were initiated for a future meeting between Presidents Putin and Zelensky.
The formal nomination from House Republicans spotlighted Trump’s notable summit with Putin on August 15, 2025, along with his dialogues involving key European leaders on August 18, 2025. These conversations were centered on Ukraine’s security assurance and pathways to foster peace in the region.
The backdrop to these negotiations is the conflict that escalated when Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, aiming for territorial control over a region previously classified as Soviet territory. This has since spiraled into a devastating war, resulting in the tragic loss of thousands of lives and significant civilian casualties due to attacks on non-military sites.
Trump has frequently claimed that had he been president during the onset of this conflict, the invasion would have been unlikely. Interestingly, Putin echoed this sentiment recently, suggesting that the war might not have occurred under Trump’s administration.
Additional Peace Efforts Acknowledged
Ogles and Stutzman’s letters also commended Trump for his involvement in negotiating a historic peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, along with other significant peace initiatives from his first term, like the Abraham Accords.
Ogles remarked to Fox News Digital, “Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, countless lives have been spared, and there are fewer wars today.” He added that Trump’s approach champions America’s stance on global diplomacy.
Stutzman referred to Trump as the “President of Peace,” suggesting that his achievements in this area make him the most deserving candidate for the Nobel Prize this year, recognized even by various world leaders.
