Trump Nominates Herschel Walker to Serve as Ambassador to Bahamas

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Georgia state senator candidate Herschel Walker to be the U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said highlighted Walker is a “successful businessman and philanthropist,” a “former Heisman Trophy winner,” and a “tireless advocate for youth sports.” Trump added that Walker had “visited over 400 military installations around the world” to dispel the “stigma” around mental health.

“I am pleased to nominate Herschel Walker as the United States Ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas,” President Trump wrote. “For decades, Herschel has served as an ambassador to our nation's youth, military men and women, and national and international athletes.”

President Trump added, “Mr. Herschel, a successful businessman, philanthropist, former Heisman Trophy winner, and NFL great, is a tireless champion of youth sports. , served as co-chair of the President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.Herschel visited over 400 military installations around the world, and he participated in the 1992 Winter Olympics. usa bobsled I represented the United States as a member of the team.”

Walker previously ran for the Georgia Senate, but ultimately conceded to Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) in a runoff election in December 2022.
